Any reason not to sign an authorization for the disclosure of personal health information when applying for life insurance?
I 50, good health, in good condition, so I had a cancer scare a few years ago, but it turned out he did not. I'm thinking of applying for a policy whole new life to replace another that I have. They are asking me to sign this form and explain to all my doctors to release all my records. Does this is normal and necessary in all cases? What is the downside? How do I know that the agent did not disclose the information inappropriately?
To finance (review and decide whether to issue a policy or decrease) in its application, the insurance company must review their medical records. The form is legal reference allows doctors, hospital, etc. to release the records to the insurance company. This is totally normal. His agent would not normally access to see their files, nor can he or she lawfully disclose information to anyone. So if you want to get a new policy, you must sign the form. And now I would be very leery about replacing your existing policy. If you purchased a few years ago the rate is based on the old were you when you applied the policy. Obtain new insurance in this age will be published at the rate for the age you are now – probably a significantly higher rate. Also, if you were to die during the first two years after the new policy for issuing the insurance company can review your records over and over based on the cause of death denying the claim and cancel the policy. After two years, the policy (such as its current policy of now) becomes indisputable. Underline IMHO, there are many drawbacks to the replacement of a policy of greater and very few professionals. If you still decide it is to your advantage to replace the policy, Please make sure the new policy is issued and in their hands before canceling your current policy. Hope this helps. Good luck!
